Biography
Anne Rushing was born in Chattanooga, TN. Her interest in a variety of arts began in high school where she studied photography, graphic design, architecture, ceramics, and drawing. She also began volunteering at the Hunter Museum of American Art with their summer art camps, where she got her first experience with glass art.
Rushing currently attends Centre College and will graduate in 2007 with a BA in Studio Art and History and minor in Spanish. She also has a strange devotion to the band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. At centre, she had the opportunity totour Italy with the Centre Singers, getting her first true view of Italian glass blowing while in Venice. A few weeks later she took her first gather and knew it was all over. Anne has studied under professor Stephen Rolfe Powell at Centre College, and has also had the opportunity to participate in workshops with visiting artists Nancy Callan, Katherine Gray, Janusz Posniak, David Walters, and Lino Tagliapietra. Also, she was selected to attend the Pilchuck Glass School in a juried course taught by Kait Rhoads and in August will attend Tobias Møhl's course at the Corning Museum of Glass.
